When looking to move to Baltimore from DC I researched neighborhoods for what seems now like years. Local amenities,
access to parks, proximity to colleges, major roadways, were important to me, but to be honest-, the biggest determinant
was price; i wanted to find a house that was affordable, in a quality neighborhood. When I walked in my current house, I
looked out the back window and saw Lake Montebello and I knew I was home. Because of my research, I knew the prices
across the street in the adjoining neighborhood, Ednor
Gardens, were twice the asking price of my potential home. I knew that the other adjoining neighborhood, Mayfield, one
block away, had homes selling for three times as much. I felt eventually, the rising tides in those nearby communities, all
surrounding Lake Montebello, would lift my home value too. Of course I was not just
going to wait for the tide to lift my boat, I intended to insure that my home value move d up by being involved in the
community. Luckily, CHM already had a vibrant and active civic association, so my task was almost done.
